Julie Holcomb, MSN, RN, IBCLC (She/Her)

Julie’s love for women’s health began in the late 90’s while pursuing degrees in biology/women’s studies and nursing and while training with Ina May Gaskin at The Farm in Tennessee. She has attended births as a midwife’s assistant, as a volunteer doula, and as a nurse. In 2008, she obtained her MSN in nurse midwifery.

Working as a midwife and overcoming her own lactation struggles gave her a deeper understanding of the need for timely and skilled breastfeeding support. To meet this need, she became an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2010. Her experience includes providing inpatient and outpatient consulting, facilitating breastfeeding support groups, and teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes. She brings a calm, focused presence to her work helping families.

She currently works as an adjunct nursing professor for Western Carolina University and as a Nurse Consultant for Head Start. In 2022, she joined The Lactation Network and opened Asheville Lactation Consulting. She is a member of both ILCA and USLCA.

In her free time, you can find Julie on the sidelines of a soccer game, working on her family’s food truck, or exercising her dog. She lives in Asheville with her husband and two boys.

Julie is available for consultations in your home and at the office.
